Rigid or solid tapping styles are used for general purpose CNC machining. The rigid tapping cycle synchronizes the machine and spindle rotation to match a specific thread pitch. It is used at higher speeds, but does not compensate for length during the taping cycle.
Taper shanks maintain balance and rigidity during high speeds and heavy-duty applications. They have smaller diameters than straight shanks.
